Job description

Farley & Partners Ltd has comprehensively reviewed its outsourcing process. It currently has its bookkeeping outsourced and has a mix of people performing the accounting work. Following the review we have decided to bring the accounts function in-house, integrating them all into one management reporting process. We are looking for capable staff to manage this from the grass-roots level, working with the Accounts Manager to perform all the day-to-day accounting in-house.

You will be involved in all aspects of accounting

  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable – the processing, payment and receipt of invoices
  • Bank Reconciliations for all bank accounts and managing the petty cash register
  • Producing stock reports and reconciling them to monthly stock counts
  • Fixed Asset Register Maintenance – updating and reconciling it to stock reports
  • Assisting with the preparation of Monthly, Weekly and Daily Sales Reports
  • Processing Journal Entries
  • Managing Intercompany Balances
  • P&L and Balance Sheet Analysis
  • Preparation of monthly Trial Balances
  • Assistance in year-end statutory reporting
  • VAT and Annual Returns
  • Liaising with External Accountants and Auditors
  • Data Entry into Sage, Quickbooks, SAP and other Accounting pakages
  • Keeping Supplier, Customer and Client records up-to-date
  • Assist in the streamlining of the accounting process as it is brought in-house

Role requirements

The role requires a high level of daily administrative accounting duties and they are therefore looking for someone with

  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles – debits/credits, trial balance, nominal ledgers, invoicing, processing journal entries etc either through work experience or applicable courses
  • Experience of using an accounting package like Sage, Quickbooks, MYOB
  • Experience of data entry and reconciling large volumes of information
  • Strong eye for detail
  • Proactive and likes to take the initiative
  • Proven Excel skills (Formulas, V-Lookups, Pivot tables, Graphs, Charts etc.)
  • Happy to work independently or in a team
  • Takes ownership for your work and willing to help others complete their tasks

Audit Senior

A great opportunity to work with a Top Practice based in Kairaba Avenue.

Your new company

This job is an amazing opportunity to work with a Top chartered accountancy practice. Due to continuous growth in business, the firm now needs an experienced Audit Senior to join their Kairaba Avenue team on a permanent basis.

Your new role

On joining this practice as an Audit Senior, you will be expected to ensure successful completion of assigned audit engagements, from start to finish, inclusive of pre-planning and wrap up activities. Reporting to the Audit Management team, you will manage and direct daily activities of more junior auditors assigned to assist the Supervising Auditor during an engagement. You will apply risk and control concepts to scenarios encountered and identify any potential issues. In addition to this, the ideal candidate will be comfortable in client facing situations.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this job, you will have at least 36 months experience as an Audit Senior within a chartered accountancy firm. You will be driven and confident in order to provide the best service possible to all clients, thus further developing the business. You will be a team player but must be happy to work individually when necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform audits as an audit senior from planning to fieldwork and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment for manager or partner review, seeking input for areas of concern and judgement
  • Identify risk matters and raise with a manager and/or partner, while exercising judgement within agreed parameters
  • Produce work for the Manager and/or Partner review clearly highlighting issues and providing potential solutions to issues identified
  • Identify and understand client needs, suggest potential solutions on technical matters and communicate and agree client needs and potential solutions with managers
  • Active engagement with senior client staff in order to gain a good understanding of their business and ensure the efficient execution of the audit
  • Take primary responsibility for ownership, completion and monitoring progress against budget for each assignment, and when the actual differs from the budget then gain a full understanding for the Manager

Requirements include:

  • Supervise, coach and develop junior members of staff within teams, on client premises and in the office
  • Experience working in a similar position as an External Auditor
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Qualified / Part Qualified ACA, CA, or ACCA
  • Working knowledge of the Companies Act 2013, Central Bank of The Gambia Act 2005 and International Auditing Standards
  • A good working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Experience of supervising and coaching junior members of staff on site

In this role you will also assist with monitoring the annual marketing budget.

What you’ll need to succeed

Over 2 years of marketing communications experience preferably in the finance sector and experience of working as part of a team as you will be making decisions within a team on a day-to-day basis. You should have experience of editing large scale websites, developing content strategy and proof-reading content as well as expertise in social media. Some numerical and decision making skills are also necessary to monitor the annual marketing budget. A high standard of written and verbal communication.
